Archery Bag Targets
Archery bag targets can be a fun way to improve your archery
shooting. Archery bag targets come in two varieties based on their shape: bag targets and block
targets. Each has its own unique characteristics so it pays to know a little bit about each
before deciding on one or the other. Here, is a basic
rundown of each kind:
Bag Targets
This type of archery bag targets can be hung in the air or on a stand or placed directly on
the ground. They often come with grommets to help hang these bag targets. Most of these archery bag
targets will have the stuffed bag or pillow look and weigh about 30 to 50lbs with the average around 30 to
35lbs. They are most often filled with a synthetic filler which works great at stopping at
stopping all kinds of different arrows.
You
can expect to find a width across of about 23 to 27 inches on these bag targets. Some of these bag targets
will come with a frame, usually made of aluminum. However, if a target stand
is not included, one can normally be purchased for under $30. The regular cost for bag
targets ranges from $30 to $90.
Block Targets
Archery bag targets that have the block or square box shape that offers some different
options. These block targets can be shot at from all four sides and usually offer easy arrow
removal. Many of these block targets offer differing images on the four
sides. These can vary from a single bulls eye target or multiple smaller ones to even
pictures of key animal parts like the liver and heart to shoot at. This is great for
spicing up your regular shooting practice. These can be made of
various materials; however, the most common is probably foam. These kinds of archery
bag targets also tend to weigh about 30 lbs and have dimensions of width dimensions ranging from 19 to 24
inches across. Costs for these bag targets vary ranging from $20 up to
$90.
Whether you choose block targets or bag
targets, you will be happy to know they are more similar than they are different. They generally have about
the same weight and price range so your final decision will normally rest on your personal
preference. However, regardless of which type you purchase, recognize that you will need to
occasionally repair archery bag targets by adding additional filler or at least new covers.
