3d Archery Targets
3-D targets or 3d
targets come in essentially two forms (1) animal targets or (2) blocks and bags. Originally, blocks and bags were by far the favorite because animal targets
were not very realistic looking. However, things have changed in a
hurry as animal targets are more life-like, very durable, and have great ability to hold the arrows and release
them when retrieval is needed. This has resulted in a growing
interest in 3d animal targets.
Animal Targets
These targets make
it closer to what you can expect while truly hunting. This results
in better performance when in the field. The kinds of animal
targets available are extensive. This list includes deer, bear,
turkey, alligator, elk, mountain goats, raccoons, foxes, caribou, bison and many others. Most animal targets have a center target section that can be repaired or
replaced when needed.
Blocks and Bags
These are popular
because they are great for carrying and storage. Their light weight
design and square like frame makes these ideal for putting in your car or carrying with you to the field with
ease. Probably the most interesting growth area in blocks and bags
is with the materials used within them. Materials used in various
targets include foam, synthetic fillers, burlap, and others.
Another benefit of these targets is they offer you the ability to shoot at them from all
sides.
Target considerations
When choosing a
target for your archery practice, it is best to keep a few things in mind. Here, is our list to make your choosing easier on you:
1. Will you need to move the target a great deal? If so, either choose smaller targets or ones that are light or can be broken
down into sections.
2. Will storage be an issue?
If so, you will need to choose ones that can be broken down into sections.
3. Which to choose: animal targets or block and bag
targets? Most people opt for animal targets although other
targets can provide other benefits.
Prices & Companies
Animal targets vary
in price; however, the basic price range is anywhere from $100 to $300. This divergence in price is due to size
of the targets and buying interest in that specific animal target. Also, exotic animal targets can go even
higher going up to almost $500 for lions and other big game. Blocks and bags are much cheaper in comparison as
their price range goes from $30 to $100 for most items. Again, the higher priced items tend to be larger in size
and offer more features or improved impact materials. 3-D target companies include McKenzie Targets, Delta
Targets, Lancaster Archery Supply, and several others.
